The department has a strong scientific experimental laboratory especially intending for first year undergraduate engineering students. The laboratory can be conducted more than (20) types of experiments relating to Mechanics, electricity, magnetism, heat, optics etc. Thus our laboratory allows students to perform experiments to approve their individual theoretical knowledge in accordance with their career aspirations.
The department of engineering physics previously offered two full-time post-graduate degree programs:
This program offered opportunities for study and research leading to the MS and PhD degrees in physics. The department offered fifty-five Doctorate degree holders so far during the year 2001 to 2009. Moreover the department also offered, between the year 2002 and 2003, a total number of 18 candidates in Master of Science (MS) degree.
The department of engineering physics mainly contributes to the Mandalay Technological University’s vision which is becoming a highly – prestigious technological centre of excellence (CoE) not only in teaching but also in research from every sector of engineering physics.
To be existed as a teaching department which can provide a comprehensive physics courses to emerge and come into prominence engineers and architects who can think reasonably and able to implement the benefits of mankind and the environment.

Engineering physics supports engineering students of all disciplines combine fundamental training in physics with emphasis on broad applications of physics in modern technologies.
AREAS OF RESEARCH
Before the year 2009, the department achieved some research activities such as a pneumatically operated wall-climbing robot, a small four-legged walking robot including infrared detection system assembled on the robot’s body, robotic arm consisting of five joints and represents 5-degree of freedom manipulator using electrical actuators, and voice activated control system using the pre-programmed vocal commands.
